KAWAMOTOYA

Kawamotoya ryokan is located in Nozawa Onsen, the quintessential Japanese traditional resort village widely known for its natural hot springs and rich natural powder snow which set the backdrop for the 1998 Winter Olympic Games.

A total of 13 public hot-spring bath houses, known as "Sotoyu", are a common asset of the local villagers and are open to visitors. One of them, "Kumanotearai no yu", is just next to Kawamotoya and very famous for its beauty effects on women's skin.

The ryokan has 23 guests rooms; 8 guest rooms have their own private bathroom and 15 guest rooms have only a private toilet. From the top floors on the East side of the Kawamotoya guests have a beautiful view on the Nozawa ski resort while on West side of the Kawamotoya guests will enjoy the view on the mountains.

The restaurant TAMON is a very unique concept to ryokans, as it is open to the public and offers avant-garde variations on classical culinary techniques, using the best local ingredients available. Our chef Yasunaga personally selects fresh mountain herbs, village rice and vegetables, local fish and meat, wild deer and boar, home-made bread, to make your stay even more memorable. A large outdoor terrace facing a Japanese style garden is also available for full course meals or just to chill out with a drink and a dessert at the end of your day. All reservations through this website include breakfast. Dinner is optional (6000yen per serve) and highly recommended to try at least once during your stay.
